Alvis Johnson Field was the football field for Harrodsburg High School prior to the merger of the City and County school systems. Its historic significance make it an important symbol for the consolidated Mercer County Schools. Renovations included a new, Bermuda grass field and infrastructure to eventually convert it into a synthetic turf field. New bleacher seating was installed along the home side of the stadium. The existing seven-lane track was removed and a new, eight-lane track facility was installed, including new field events and a cushioned rubber surface.
