Estill County High School Athletics Complex

Estill County schools had been using the high school’s aging athletics facilities shared by the high school, ATC, and middle school. Located on the same campus as the ATC and middle school, the campus has been completing upgrades to its districts’ schools and had been missing out on hosting large-scale regional events due to several non-compliance factors.

Sinkholes and pyritic shale had plagued the football field prior to the athletics upgrades and campus expansion. To preserve the integrity of the football field all storm drains were rerouted as they previously ran directly under the field.

The multi-school campus was in need of an operational and efficient athletic facilities that would hold capacity and parking space to welcome large groups of visitors during perspective events and accommodate multiple schools. The footprint of the campus was slightly expanded to expand parking and improve traffic circulation.

New amenities included a new entry-way plaza with ticket booth, a new synthetic football field, grandstands, upgraded bleachers, a new fieldhouse, dugouts for baseball and softball fields, a new track, concession stands, new pathways between facilities, additional parking areas, and new pavement for the tennis courts.

The new facilities are all ADA-compliant and meet all requirements for Estill County Schools to host large-scale regional events.
