MEET KIM! 💡

Q. What is your favorite part of your job at RTA?

A. With 25 years of experience as an interior designer, I have delved into many facets of the field, but K-12 education truly captivates me. The opportunity to create inspiring learning environments and witness students actively engage with them has been one of the most fulfilling highlights of my career.

Q. What is a project you are currently working on, and what excites you about it?

A. I am currently working on the Cumberland Elementary School project, and it has been a true pleasure to collaborate with the Cumberland team from the very beginning—starting with the initial design concepts and now moving into the construction phase. Throughout the process, they have been highly engaged, eagerly visualizing and providing input as we refined the design. The excitement surrounding the reimagined space is palpable, and I am particularly looking forward to seeing the reactions of the students as they explore and interact with their new environment.

Q. What do you think are the key qualities for success in your position?

A. I think key qualities to possess as an Interior Designer are creativity, problem-solving and communication skills.

Q.  Beyond your professional life, what do you like to spend your time doing?

A. I co-manage a dynamic leather business with my husband that we launched ten years ago. We take pride in crafting unique items that have found homes all around the globe.

Q. Before pursuing interior design, what’s the most unusual or unique job you’ve ever had?

A. For a brief moment in time, I worked as a 911 Dispatcher!

Q. What’s your ideal weekend look like?

A. When we’re not immersed in our workshop, we cherish traveling with our grown children, hiking at Red River Gorge and enjoying adventures with our beloved furry companions.

Q. What’s your favorite season, and what do you love about it?

A. My favorite season is Summer. I love the sunshine, warmth and just being outdoors as much as possible!

Warm • Thoughtful •Trendy • Dedicated

I love working with Kim because she is so open to different ideas and is great at guiding me where to go next! – Cortney Bolt

Kim is constantly thinking about how her designs can inspire. She has amazing talent! I remember one of the first projects I asked for her help on, I gave her a brief synopsis of what was needed, and she took it from there. I was blown away by her presentation when we reviewed her concept. Her ability to take minimal direction and spin it into an amazing design is a testament to her experience in her field.  Kim also has a comfortable air about her that puts people at ease which is a great talent to have when mentoring others and speaking with clients. – Silke Becker

We deeply appreciate Kim’s experience and contributions to the RossTarrant Architects team. Her knowledge, kindness, and creative approach make her such a valuable asset to our firm!
