MEET ALEX! 💡

Q. How long have you been at RTA?

A. I have been with RTA 6 ½ years. I started after graduate school as a project designer and am currently a project coordinator.

Q. What inspired you to pursue a career in the architecture field?

A. I spent a lot of my formative years living overseas, it was always interesting to me how buildings responded to the climate they were in to create comfortable spaces, this sparked my interest in Architecture.

Q. What is your favorite part about your job or working at RTA?

A. The people. We have a wonderful group of people in the office, and work with great clients and contractors that make the job interesting and enjoyable.

Q. What do you enjoy most about designing education spaces?

A. Educational design is very dynamic, combining both large scale social space design and smaller more personal design. Both factors revolve around creating ideal learning spaces for future generations, which is very rewarding.

Q. Beyond your professional life, what do you like to spend your time doing?

A. I really enjoy cooking and developing new recipes in the kitchen, good coffee, travel, spending time with family, friends, my dog, and exploring outside.

Q. What is a fun fact that not many of your RTA coworkers might know about you?

A. I moved a lot growing up within the United States and overseas, my parents lived in Egypt when I was born, I spent Elementary School and Middle School in Bogota Colombia and most of my High School years in Jakarta Indonesia. I am fluent in Spanish and can still speak a little Indonesian.

Q. If you could travel anywhere in the world tomorrow, where would you go and why?

A. I would really like to visit New Zealand; I have a few friends from there and the landscape has always captured my imagination. If I had the time, it would be very cool to take a ship to Antarctica as well.

Q. What is your favorite board game or card game to play?

A. I enjoy Telestrations. Every time I have played with any group of people it always ends with everyone laughing and having a wonderful time.
