Estill County’s new Area Technology Center was designed to provide technology-rich, industry-specific training in Advanced Manufacturing, Health Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Construction Technology and Diesel Technology. Situated directly between Estill County Middle School and Estill County High School, an enclosed pedway was designed to physically connect the schools and provide access for students at both schools to take advantage of highly-specialized training. Large windows facing the high school were designed to showcase the the exciting work happening inside. Classrooms were connected directly to adjoining labs to provide views into both the lab spaces and the corridor and to put the ATC programs on full display. This cutting-edge facility attracts students from throughout the entire region by offering specialized training in the skills that are most needed in their communities.
